Now entering it’s 4th year, our partnership with Gordon’s Independent School matches their teachers with education professionals worldwide, who have provided individual targets for development. For Gordon’s teachers, this is an opportunity to have worldwide impact and improve learning outcomes in under-resourced countries by designing and sharing tailor-making pedagogical resources. Their partners then disseminate the information and learning to other colleagues, before reporting back on impact.
On Thursday 6th November, I visited Kelly Hurley and Sophie Hamshar, Assistant Headteachers and leaders of this valued partnership. We reflected on the successes of last academic year, before addressing ways to improve the programme. It was fantastic to meet them, along with some of the generous and hard-working teachers who have participated for many years, including Peter Charles-Jones (Maths teacher) and Matt Gullick (PE teacher). Aiming to expand the collaboration further, Sophie has invited teachers from the Arete Learning Trust to join us.
This year’s cohort will begin their journey in December, with a launch on the 15th. The sense of anticipation is palpable, as teachers from Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, Liberia and Cameroon wait to see who is supporting them with their targets. We are looking forward to another successful year with Gordon’s.
