The Commonwealth Education Trust is pleased to invite friends, partners and supporters to a joint event with the Council for Education in the Commonwealth:
Investing in Teacher Professional Development in Low-Resource Contexts
A CET–CEC event : Addressing one of the most urgent education needs across the Commonwealth
The event will take place on Thursday 1 October 2026, from 5pm to 8pm, in the CPA Room, Houses of Parliament, London SW1A 0AA.
Held shortly ahead of World Teachers’ Day, this event will bring together Commonwealth education stakeholders, trustees, partners, High Commissioners, education leaders and invited guests to reflect on the vital role teachers play in shaping children’s learning, confidence and futures.
Across the Commonwealth, teachers are central to improving education quality, strengthening early years and foundational learning, and helping children and young people thrive. Yet in many low-resource contexts, teachers continue to work with limited access to practical, relevant and sustained professional development.
This event will explore why investing in teacher professional development matters, particularly in contexts where resources are limited but the need is urgent. It will also provide an opportunity to introduce the developing collaboration between the Commonwealth Education Trust and the Council for Education in the Commonwealth, two Commonwealth-associated organisations with shared interests in education, equity, teacher development and learning across the Commonwealth.
For CET, the event is an opportunity to share insights from our work supporting teachers through Teach2030, our mobile-first, low-data professional learning platform designed for teachers in low-resource contexts. It will also allow us to contribute to a wider Commonwealth conversation about how teachers, practitioners and education systems can be better supported.
Guests can expect an evening of reflection, discussion and networking, including a focus on:
- Teacher professional development in low-resource contexts;
- Early years and foundational learning;
- Practical lessons from CET’s teacher development work;
- Commonwealth education collaboration;
- Future opportunities for partnership and shared action.
This event is designed to bring people together, introduce the CET–CEC collaboration, and begin a wider conversation around teacher professional development, early years, foundational learning and education across the Commonwealth.
Places are limited, and registration is required.
