March 9th 2026 is Commonwealth Day – an annual celebration of the 56-member Commonwealth of Nations. It promotes shared values of peace, democracy, and equality among 2.5 billion citizens across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, the Americas, the Pacific, and Europe.
This year’s theme ‘Accelerating Partnerships and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth‘ discusses shared priorities, including education, technology, trade, the climate and sustainable development.
The theme highlights how the 56 member countries of the Commonwealth can face today’s challenges together to create opportunities that can deliver shared and lasting prosperity for everyone — no matter the size of the community.
Between 1st-4th November, 2026, in St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting will take place and the theme will be discussed further. This summit brings together Heads of Government, Ministers, and representatives from business and youth organisations from 56 Commonwealth nations.
To support this theme, we announce the launch of our new competition on Commonwealth Day (9th March 2026), open to every student in the Commonwealth: ‘Working with other people makes the world a better place.’ This way, young people will have their contribution and voice to support The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
